Claude Opus 5

Claude Opus 5 helps examine difficult decisions with competing risks and missing information. A service-migration example shows how to request a comparison without inventing a single “correct” answer.

Use cases

What this model is useful for

Compare two plans

Provide constraints and decision criteria. A useful answer ties every risk to a stated condition instead of simply calling one option “safer”.

Find missing information

Ask for a separate list of missing facts such as acceptable downtime, data volume, rollback procedure and duplicate handling.

Prepare a team explanation

Request a short recommendation first, followed by technical detail and questions for system owners. This does not replace an architecture review.

Examples

Prompts you can try

A sample brief — add your own inputs. This page does not generate content or charge your balance.

Prompt for an independent test — no saved Opus 5 response is attached yet.

Choose a service migration approach

This fictional scenario contains no production data. For a real case, preserve the inputs, full response, team decision and rollback-test evidence.

A small service must move to a new database. Option A: pause writes, copy the data and switch the application. Option B: write to both databases for a while and migrate gradually. Constraints: acceptable downtime has not been agreed; the team has two developers; operations have no retry mechanism; rollback is mandatory. Compare both options by risk, complexity and rollback. List unknown conditions separately. Do not make a final choice when the evidence is insufficient.

Make the prompt your own

  • Add your budget and must-have requirements; they change which differences matter.
  • Ask it to separate known terms from points that need clarification.

How to check the result

  • Both options are evaluated separately; dual-write risks are not assigned to the paused-write option.
  • The absence of an agreed downtime window is treated as a decision-changing unknown.
  • Each option has a rollback path without claiming that it has already been tested.
  • Do not call an example verified unless the exact prompt, complete response, claude-opus-5 ID, date and usage are preserved.

Get started

How to get started

  1. Check access

Confirm through the model catalog that claude-opus-5 is available to your key. Do not replace the exact ID with a generic Claude name.

  2. Configure the client

For Anthropic-compatible access, use the base URL, headers and /v1/messages route documented by CLODEx. Keep the key on the server.

  3. Start with a safe case

Start with an anonymized scenario whose criteria you already know. Check for missing conditions before using internal documents.

One API for your application.

Model and integration

What this model is

Anthropic describes Claude Opus 5 as a high-capability model for complex reasoning, coding and agentic work. The CLODEx route is verified separately.

Version status

The upstream documentation marks this version active legacy. It should not be called the newest release, but the label does not by itself mean unavailable.

What to consider

No infrastructure access

A plain request cannot inspect databases, logs, metrics or backups. That requires separate tools and permissions.

Detail is not proof

A convincing answer can still miss a constraint. Check conclusions against the source material and system owners.

Complexity affects usage

Long documents, additional iterations and reasoning modes can change usage and latency. Use actual CLODEx measurements.

Before you submit

This is a training comparison, not a production migration plan. The model cannot inspect your infrastructure, data, traffic or recovery procedures unless you provide them.

FAQ

Model FAQ

When should I choose Opus 5?

Use it when a task has competing constraints and the cost of an error exceeds the cost of extra review. For simple work, compare a smaller model first.

Can the model make the final decision?

No. It can structure the options, but the final decision still requires project context, fact checking and accountable human review.

Does it work with Claude Code and Claude Desktop?

CLODEx documents separate setup paths for Claude Code and the Claude Desktop Gateway. Follow the current guide and select the exact claude-opus-5 ID.

Can it inspect a repository or website by itself?

Only when the client has suitable tools and you grant access. A plain Messages request sees only the text and files you send.

Do I need an Anthropic subscription?

No. An Anthropic subscription and access through a CLODEx key are different products. This page uses CLODEx credentials and balance.
