Use cases

What this model is useful for

Add a focused feature

Describe the input, expected behavior and cases that must remain valid. Ask for a focused change instead of a full rewrite.

Understand existing code

Ask for an explanation of current behavior before requesting a patch. This makes incorrect assumptions easier to catch.

Prepare tests

Include normal, empty and invalid inputs. Proposed tests remain a plan until they run in your environment.

Examples

Prompts you can try

A sample brief — add your own inputs. This page does not generate content or charge your balance.

Prompt for an independent test — no saved Sonnet 4.6 response is attached yet.

Filter products without mutating the list

The sample array was created for this page. For a real project, include the actual types and test runner while removing personal data and secrets.

Given the products [{name:"Tea"},{name:"Coffee"},{name:"Teapot"}], write a simple JavaScript function filterProducts(products, query). Match part of the name case-insensitively, trim spaces around the query, return every product for an empty query and do not mutate the input array. Explain the solution and show checks for " TEA ", an empty string and "cocoa".

Make the prompt your own

  • Replace API with the topic you want to understand.
  • If you know the basics, ask about the difficult part rather than requesting another introduction.

How to check the result

  • The query " TEA " returns Tea and Teapot; "cocoa" returns an empty list.
  • An empty query returns every original product in the same order.
  • The function does not mutate the input array or its objects.
  • A published result includes the prompt, full response, environment version and test-run output.

Get started

How to get started

  1. Check the exact ID

Confirm that claude-sonnet-4-6 is visible to your key in the catalog. Do not replace it with a generic sonnet alias.

  2. Connect a Claude client

Use the base URL and headers from /docs. Anthropic-compatible requests use /v1/messages.

  3. Run local checks

Apply the response in a separate branch or sandbox, run the tests and review the diff before merging.

Model and integration

What this model is

Anthropic lists text and image input with text output for Sonnet 4.6. CLODEx protocols and pricing are shown separately.

Version status

The upstream page marks this release active legacy. It can be documented by exact version, but it should not be called the newest Sonnet.

What to consider

Code is not executed automatically

A Messages response does not prove compilation or passing tests. Use a local run or an attached execution tool.

Tools depend on the client

File, terminal and browser access comes from Claude Code or another client, not from the model name alone.

Claude versions differ

Do not reuse parameters, pricing or modes from another Sonnet release. Check the exact ID and current documentation.

Before you submit

The model can propose code and tests, but it does not run them in your project without an attached environment. Validate behavior, data types and UI rules locally.

Include the higher-tier model when the task extends beyond one function and introduces architectural trade-offs.

FAQ

Model FAQ

Is Sonnet 4.6 suitable for beginners?

Yes, when you ask for plain-language explanations and verify each step. A clear answer still does not replace running tests.

Can I use it in Claude Code?

Yes, when the model is available to your CLODEx key and the client follows the current /docs setup with the exact claude-sonnet-4-6 ID.

Can the model control a browser?

Only through a separate client with an approved browser tool. A plain API request cannot open or control a browser.

How does it differ from Haiku 4.5?

They are separate releases with different positioning and pricing. Test the practical difference on the same task and criteria.

Do I need an Anthropic subscription?

No. An Anthropic subscription and CLODEx API access are different products. Use a CLODEx key and balance.
